We invite individuals, churches, and para-church organizations to pray with us for all aspects of Media/ Entertainment including film, radio, television, music, internet, print publications, and news media.
Our culture is so saturated with media influence that we sometimes fail to recognize how affected we've become by it. The few hundred people who control film, television, and news media are mostly unknown to the world; they are seldom the object of prayer.
If the scriptures had been written in this century, the Holy Spirit would have surely encouraged us to pray for media as a government influence. Media as a whole colors every part of our world with immense political, economic, and moral pressure, whether positive or negative.
As Christians we have the authority and mandate through Jesus Christ to pray, intercede, and take dominion in these areas; to impact our culture for His glory. There's a powerful, special anointing related to corporate prayer that we don't see in our individual prayer lives. It's this power that will break through the "waste places" of the Media mountain (there are seven different mountains related to our culture and personal lives) and "repair the breach" and "restore our streets."
From my perspective, the primary influence we see in media is the anti-Christ spirit being released with vengeance. It seems as though anything related to Christian values is being attacked throughout all forms of meda. In my own area we've seen the only Christian educational spirit-filled radio station sold to the highest bidder; KVTT 91.7 will be taken out of commission permanently sometime in mid-August or early September 2009. This transaction will leave a large number of Christian ministers, ministries, and news/talk programs with no radio voice anywhere, not to mention the praise and worship music that 91.7 is known for. KVTT has operated as a Christian education radio outlet in the North Central Texas region for over thirty years. The format will become AAA, or Adult Album Alternative.
We see the anti-Christ spirit at work in Senate bills, on our local and national news programs, the local newspapers, and do we ever see it blasted at us through internet, television, and film. The Christian voice and influence is met with resistance, and at times outright hostility, every day. Let a Christian voice speak up for righteous, Biblical ideas and watch the backlash, the negative pressure that follows.
And keep in mind that anti-Israel, anti-Semitic propaganda, regardless of the source, is anti-Christ rhetoric. Most news we're handed by the Western media regarding the State of Israel falls in to this category. We very seldom get full, unbiased news about Israel.
Media is one of the most powerful tools on the face of the earth.
It can release a thought over the minds of hundreds of millions of people and affect the course of nations.
In the book The Seven Mountain Prophecy, Johnny Enlow identifies Apollyon, the destroyer, as the principality that rules this mountain.
This principality uses bad news to dominate and control the masses. His evangelists spread the paralyzing venom of fear through the airwaves of earth.
Scripture tells us in Habakkuk 2:14 that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. In direct opposition to this, the spirit of the destroyer wants to dominate and control the masses through the release of this bad news.
By God’s design, the displacing authority over this mountain are His anointed and appointed evangelists who fill the airwaves with His good news which is the highest intent and purpose for media.
In the prophetic image of "Media" created by James Nesbit, we see film, representing the gospel of the blessing of the Kingdom, weaving its way down the mountain, through the city, and into the water, where we see a computer keyboard, representing the Internet. The Creator of Heaven and Earth truly has a World Wide Web. Rising out of the water we see an ancient path invading digital media and the seven mountains that mold culture. We also see microphones dedicated to filling the airwaves with good news.
We call forth gifted servants to fill the airwaves with the good news of the kingdom of our God.
